Technology@lemmy.world•HP ditches 15-minute wait time policy due to 'feedback'English
502·11 months agoI don’t think that’s fair. Plenty of people in this world do not know much about computers or the internet or anything in that area and just need a printer. So they go to their local big box store and there’s the HP printers and they’re a good deal, so they buy them.
Consumers do not get what they deserve when companies treat them like shit just because they don’t have certain knowledge.

politics @lemmy.world•Former intelligence officer claims KGB recruited Trump
243·11 months agoHe has almost no filter and I think if he was a secret KGB operative, that would not be a secret by now because it would have just come out at random at some point.
He’s extremely malleable, loves rich people and authoritarians, and will agree with almost anyone who kisses his ass. So it’s pretty easy for Putin to just wrap him around his little finger.

6·11 months agoThere is no difference in that sense. That doesn’t mean the truth is fungible.

Technology@lemmy.world•Amazon is changing what is written in booksEnglish
41·11 months agoDahl was a great author but wasn’t a very pc person , his family have had to apologise for his anti semitism.
That is putting it very mildly.
"There is a trait in the Jewish character that does provoke animosity, maybe it’s a kind of lack of generosity towards non-Jews. I mean, there’s always a reason why anti-anything crops up anywhere. Even a stinker like Hitler didn’t just pick on them for no reason.”
He said that in *checks notes* 1971.
Worse, it was in response to criticism to an article he wrote that was justifiably criticizing Israel at a time when it wasn’t so popular to do so. And when he was accused of the old “you’re anti-Israel, so you’re anti-semitic” nonsense, he decided to go, “hell yeah I am!”

News@lemmy.world•Trump Fires Top U.S. General In Major Shakeup Of Pentagon Leadership.
37·11 months agoI don’t think this counts as a conspiracy theory. What he is doing is right out of Project 2025 and it is exactly for the reason you are suggesting.
It’s not a conspiracy theory when they’re doing what they said they were going to do. Trump’s weak disavowal doesn’t really count since everyone he’s surrounded himself with was and still is an active proponent.

5·11 months agoSome people cannot do a lot of active campaigning for health reasons. The person you just asked that question to is one of them. I just thought you should know that.

News@lemmy.world•Texas wants the NCAA to start ‘sex-screening’ its student athletes.
6·11 months agoA lot of them claim that they’re fine with girls playing on the boy’s team because somehow the boy’s team is open to everyone (Air Bud rule) but the girl’s team is just for “real” girls because they have an inherent disadvantage. And this is from people who claim to be feminists.

News@lemmy.world•While Democracy Burns, Democrats Prioritize… Demolishing Section 230?
31·11 months agoI know what you are talking about. It is not the topic of this post. That is why you are getting downvoted.
You asked why you were getting downvoted, I told you, and now you’re trying to argue with me about it. Which I am guessing is also going to get you downvoted.
Also, stop responding to me multiple times and in PM.

News@lemmy.world•Texas wants the NCAA to start ‘sex-screening’ its student athletes.
10·11 months agoThis is going to trickle down to the grade school level. Because there is no shortage of perverts who are willing to “save” the girls from the evils of possibly playing sports with someone with a penis by inspecting their vaginas.

Very weird indeed.
