FryHyde@lemmy.zipto News@lemmy.world•Slurs, 911 calls and a crossbow: Records detail neighborhood disputes before Jonathan Joss' killing95·17 days agoRegarding whose property it was, it’s likely debatable. From Kern de Gonzalez’s post, it seems like they were living in a trailer park. Sometimes all the property outside the trailer itself technically belongs to the park management and is treated like a shared public area. There’s all sorts of weird little jurisdictional technicalities that happen in trailer parks from what I’ve been told.
Yeah this gives the vibe of some poorly-researched hipster pop up “museum”
FryHyde@lemmy.zipto Linux@programming.dev•My week with Linux: I'm dumping Windows for Ubuntu to see how it goes6·20 days agoUbuntu is such a weird beast IMO. As someone who mostly uses Windows but works a lot in Linux, I’ve always instead recommended Linux Mint to people who are switching from Windows. it feels a lot less quirky and hand-holdy. TBF it’s been quite a while since I’ve tried a fresh install of Ubuntu, but the last time I did it really reminded me of Windows 8 or Windows Mobile. Way too much like a phone OS out of the box.
But… Color Blocking is not stripes. Where are the horizontal stripes?
FryHyde@lemmy.zipto News@lemmy.world•J.K. Rowling uses Harry Potter wealth to fund anti-transgender organization33·25 days agoI mean to be fair, if she’s going to make hating LGBT people her whole personality, we might as well make sure to keep mentioning how ACTIVE she is in her hate.
It would be one thing if she had just said some nasty shit a decade ago, but this goofy lady wakes up and chooses violence every god damned day.

FryHyde@lemmy.zipto Games@lemmy.world•A funny thing in Iran is how they repackage old PlayStation consolesEnglish4·4 months agoI dunno. I think you just prefer rounded aesthetics. IMO the Saturn just looks like an oversized CD player. Boring and no personality. The little ridges and whatnot on the PlayStation were just plain neat to me , and I greatly prefer boxy to rounded. It’s why the PS One was such a disappointment by comparison.

FryHyde@lemmy.zipto Showerthoughts@lemmy.world•There were probably people with terminal illnesses holding on so they could catch the finale of their most-beloved TV show, Game of Thrones, and who died horribly disappointed.4·6 months agoThe first one is mostly vibes. There’s not a ton of good story meat in it, and it’s pretty short. Book 2 really gets going though, and book 3 is just wild. Once you get to Wolves of the Calla, though, it’s really gonna test your patience.

FryHyde@lemmy.zipto Games@sh.itjust.works•Take-Two expects Call of Duty will boost Game Pass numbers 'for a period of time'English2·11 months agoFor context, Game Pass subscription prices are increasing a bit, the console version’s base plan is going away, and new subscriptions have been declining a bit in the last several months.
Modern Warfare 3 (the new remake) is currently on Gamepass, and it comes with all the other chronically online stuff CoD has been running for years.
In other words, he’s not wrong. It’s a big popular thing, and will likely increase the value proposition of GamePass for some indefinite period of time.
