Personally I think Americans aren’t dumb as much as they’re addicted to rage. Since Nixon, rage has been the greatest commodity a presidential candidate can have.
At this point I think we were right to say Trump winning 2024 was an existential threat, for 1/3 of us at least. The other 1/3 was right to say Biden was an existential threat to them. At this point I’m not sure we can have a country when 1/3 of us are convinced that the existence of the other 1/3 is an existential threat.
Like we’ve lost losers consent. We can’t run a country when losers won’t accept the loss, and frankly I think it’s legitimate to take that stance.
Idk I do like it when the people in government are aware of how the systems work and how to balance getting things done with keeping to core values as best you can. Inexperienced politicians tend to be loud but get nothing done, and eventually either get voted out or figure it out.
If you look at AOCs transformation over the years, you’ll she’s become much more pragmatic. Personally I see this as a good thing because I’m about to vote for 26 year old Kat Abughazaleh, and when she gets to Congress she’s going to need someone who came from a similar position to help guide her, and AOC is exactly that person.
