If you’re using AOSP, there’s a damn good chance that you understand security and what to be doing and what not to be doing.
If that is not you, then I would say no, you probably shouldn’t be using AOSP.

I’m nearly 100% certain that absolutely none of these protections work on AOSP. Only if you consent to be spied on by Google, does this stuff work. Even the advanced data protection stuff which lets you automatically have your phone reboot and stuff like that is only available through the Google settings which would require a Google Android device and not AOSP. This is a nothing burger.
First off, I would not buy it because it’s a Samsung and I can’t unlock it and install Lineage OS on it. And second of all, that 3,900 mAh battery is just no.
I started my de-googling journey and mostly completed it in 2019 and then ended up fully deleting my Google account in 2023. I still watched IO for the newest Android updates because of Lineage OS but other than that I wasn’t interested and last year’s IO was just total shit. If you are running base AOSP Android, it has not changed very much in several years.
Oh, that’s gonna be a new fun paradigm. I’m still used to only charging lithium to 80% that having to make sure it’s charged to 100 will be a novelty for quite a while.
My device has 5,000 mAh, but I keep it between 30% at the lowest and 80% at the highest, so I’m only using 2,500 mAh of the total capacity. So having a larger battery would be really nice.
Well damn. Since I only use 50% of my battery capacity between 80% and 30%, that would mean I would get 5,000 mAh out of this thing instead of the like 2,600 I’m used to.
I’ve never used Gopher, but what do you think of Gemini?
Don’t use a major bank then. Use a smaller bank.
I honestly couldn’t agree more. From 2011 to about 2017, I was always distro hopping, trying out different things. And then for the longest time, I just stayed with Ubuntu. And now I’m like, you know what? I’m just gonna fucking use Linux Mint, because it just fucking works.
Access your bank through your web browser. And if your bank does not allow you access through your web browser, get a new bank. That’s what I did.
Using open source software on lineage OS or graphene OS with no Google Play services solves the vast majority of the problems brought up in this article. It doesn’t solve all of them, but it solves most of them.
No idea. I know individual creators can mirror their own videos from YouTube over to AP or tube instance, but I don’t know of anything on mass.
Have a look at Gemini and the Gemini capsules. Seems more like what a browser should be, in my opinion.
Why exactly would I pirate a font? Sans Serif is like the only font that you need.
I’ve been making an effort recently to replace all the YouTube channels I watch with peer tube channels. I haven’t been totally successful yet, but I’m getting there.
Well, that’s unfortunate because they had the old building to get rid of. It would be cool to find out just how quickly it was able to be printed and everything so that we could figure out whether it would be shorter to print buildings that way. I would think it should be, but there’s an awfully large difference between should and reality.
They didn’t say in the article just how long it took to build. If you are in the area, did you notice about how long it took to actually put the thing together and get it open?
Ditched Google for DuckDuckGo in like 2019 and used that for a long time until Kagi came out and now I use that and I’m quite happy with it.
Only if you’re willing to accept Google spy services and all that shit on AOSP, this stuff doesn’t work.
