Fun fact: can openers were invented after the can. Which makes sense in a way, but for a while opening one was the wild west.
Early cans were also sealed with lead solder and often lined with lead to stop corrosion. The invention of the can opener at that stage would have made the inventory of tinning look like Thomas Midgley Jr.
