im already very used to not owning ubisoft games
I suppose one gets used to not paying for them after the first two-three downloads.
He said that for subscriptions to be more popular, people need to be “more comfortable with not owning their games”. People always forget the first part, if you take the whole quote, he’s right.
He didn’t say he wanted that to happen. But he probably do, so fuck Ubisoft and him.
I just don’t like how the whole internet built a narrative around an out of context quote.Even with the extra context, for him to be speaking in those terms, means that it’s something they’ve at least considered. In order for subscription based games to be more popular* they need to not suck so much ass.*
he probably do, so fuck Ubisoft and him
I mean probably fuck him, but that’s still a weird phrase.
Eh, not really. Always Online DRM is going to be even more of a thing in the future than it is now. It’ll be so baked into the application that any attempt at patching it will take so long that it’ll exceed the normal lifetime of the game itself.
I say ubisoft can live without my munee
Funny seeing so many upset people and yet when another feather collecting game drops people will rush to buy platinum exclusive pre-release edition with booster packs for only 100€ and shell out additional money to fix some other problem Ubisoft purposely made to milk people. This is not the first time they had creative ideas on how to take more of people’s money or to rob them of their games, and yet here they are one of the biggest game publishers and developers.
Believe it or not, the Internet is a big place. They are not the same people.
is the image a screenshot from a game?
One Piece anime I think
But it sucks they cut the quote to make it sound like Ubisoft is telling people to stop wanting to own games (which gamers are, look at Steam’s and gamepass’s popularity)
The quote should say subscriptions like EA Play, Ubisoft +, and Gamepass will only be successful if people are comfortable not owning games
Right, why do you think they were having that conversation? They’re executives. Their job is to increase profits. You do that as a video game publisher by transitioning to digital only, subscription based GaaS.
You do that as an executive as an argument to not transition to that
What they really mean is ligma
I honestly wonder, if there was a stock ticker for the used game market to analyze, anytime an article like the Ubisoft thing comes out, if it makes game resale prices spike.
OK dude, you can have all my Ubisoft games. Knock yourself out.
Ok, get used to me stealing your car.
Already am
Thanks to the penny pinchers that work at Kia…

I agree. Let’s break copyright
Ubisoft seems like one of the shittiest game companies. They were one of the earliest companies that implemented Always-on DRM, requiring an app to open chests, trying to put ads when you paused the game, refusing to put games on Steam because they want more money, sexual assault/harassment allegations etc.
My choice is https://www.tribler.org
Pirating games is too risky these days. Malware has become terribly dangerous.
Not if you know where to look and get stuff from trusted sources.
Skill issue
That’s why you scan the archive before installing it.
You’ll get a lot of false positives, but generally you really don’t need to worry if you aren’t on some shady Russian site call xxxfreegamesxxx or some shit
