2·2 months agoNo one’s asking for perfect. But a better system would account for outages, which we’ve seen plenty of so far. How’s that saying go? Don’t let perfect be the enemy of progress? It’s out of reach for a reason.

“I’m unbiased, but I think you’re lying for no reason at all!”
You’re a silly man.

politics @lemmy.world•Trump Classifies “Anti-Capitalism” as a Political Pre-Crime
1·2 months agoI don’t think you’re wrong. Weak resistance is better than no resistance. I think the Epstein files should be released, and Trump’s crimes be made undeniable. However, I have no doubt that we’ll need much more than that to get results. Certain people being above the law is foundational to America’s deepest flaws, and that won’t change under the current regime (barring extreme circumstances). Those files are becoming a distraction when they should really be a little bit of ammo supplementing several large blows aimed at toppling the whole regime, not just the current puppet.

4·2 months agoI’m not putting my faith in a hail mary, personally. Something like this won’t make true difference, considering the things cultists have tolerated from leaders in the past.
That’s not what makes it ridiculous to me. I think it’s ridiculous that Google locking down android now costs me hundreds of dollars to deal with for no real benefit to myself. No shade being thrown towards Pixel or GrapheneOS. The circumstances are the problem. Google is the problem…which does place quite a bit of irony on the solution being a Google Pixel.
It’s not hard to understand for me.
I don’t have a Pixel. GrapheneOS now costs me hundreds of dollars. I’d like to be able to flash a custom ROM, but I literally don’t have the option without buying into it. I’m sure the Pixel is fine, but so is my current phone that also already cost me hundreds of dollars. This is a ridiculous problem to have.
Settle down, grandpa. The world will spin another day if kids enjoy their free period a little bit.

Racism is woke now. Misogyny is woke. Conservative Christianity is woke. Trump is woke. Just give them the whole word and confuse the hell out of everyone.

This was far more difficult than it should’ve been.

1·6 months agoI sincerely hope you’re right. I’m American, so I don’t have that kind of faith in humanity lately. By all means though, spread the word.

2·6 months agoI don’t disagree. However, anyone who thinks it predicts the future? They won’t be swayed by people who say “nuh uh”. People have been saying that forever. Anyone who thinks to prove it isn’t predictive either already know, or are susceptible to confirmation bias. I’m just calling it what it is: a procedurally generated advice column. Take what resonates, leave what doesn’t. If it affects your mental health, take a step back. It’s not that serious.

22·6 months agoTherapy costs money, and isn’t done for fun though. It’s not the same thing. Like, are we trying to tell people who read fortune cookies to go to therapy instead? It’s a dumb interest that some people get way too into. Therapy helps with the obsessive part, which doesn’t need astrology to manifest.

2·6 months agoVery reddit to get downvoted for asking a question. But yeah, I saw what I expected. People using astrology improperly, becoming obsessed, and finding consequences. If it doesn’t happen with astrology, it’ll happen with something else. This is a people problem.

194·6 months agoAstrology used as a predictive engine obviously doesn’t work. Anyone using it that way is using it improperly IMO. It’s more like procedurally generated advice. For example, mine says there’s a conflict between old and new, and to embrace change while drawing on past lessons. Super vague, can apply to anyone. But it resonates and gives me something to focus on. That’s really all there is to it. Trying to “prove” it doesn’t work is like trying to “prove” wrestling is fake. That’s not the point, man.

Hell yeah! Sounds like a sweet deal.
