I’ve heard their wings can break your arm, so it might not be just as simple as that. Still probably a good first step. But if this happened when he’s out swimming where he can’t stand, that would be an advantage for the swan.

Why did you think crocs had holes that size? Haricot are probably the most widely eaten bean in western (croc-wearing) food cultures, so it seems like an obvious design choice.
From what I heard, that flight did not go high enough to be in ‘space’ by the generally accepted definition, and also those passengers did not meet the criteria to be called astronauts (basically you need to do something while you’re up there for it to count).
Are there any girders in the picture then? Or none, or impossible to tell? I can’t see any, by that definition.
Sadbutdru@sopuli.xyzto News@lemmy.world•'#BigDadEnergy': Internet claps as Walz pauses event to help rally-goer and pass out water1·10 months agoI think when you read that article it’s important to think critically about how it’s composed. I am as anti-trump as the next European “centrist dad”, but nothing I read there made me think he went out of his way to tell that story unprompted. I imagine he was interviewed, said a bunch of stuff, and then someone cherry-picked the quotes they needed to support the narrative of the article… You can’t just take it at face value!?
Is that a thing? Blowing up fully-fuelled airplanes just for fun?
What age are kids in ‘pre-k’? I’m imagining like 3-4 years old? I wouldn’t be surprised at that working with some kids that age. Not saying I think the story is true necessarily, but just that young kids are very trusting, don’t always put together information they get in different settings, and don’t really discuss weekend plans with each other much.
“on this app”… 😑
:`-( I miss voting in the European elections! 🏴🇪🇺💪
In terms of blood-borne viruses (like HIV and hepatitis), breast milk is considered in the same risk category as semen or vaginal secretions, only blood is higher. Whereas piss and shit are only considered a risk if they contain blood. Obviously there’s other reasons why you don’t want shit in your food, but it probably won’t give you anything really nasty and long-lasting. Piss it’s pretty much totally safe, but I reckon you could still get in trouble for secretly feeding it to someone.

Pretty sure I went for some Metallica. Not sure if it was before or after we got ISDN, but I’m fairly sure I already had a hotmail address.

I am a middle aged engineering student (undergrad) with two young daughters (6 and 8), so many of the things you refer to are on my mind a lot.
In my country (UK) the number of male teachers/carers is strongly proportional to the age of the student. Nursery staff : predominantly women Primary school staff: maybe a few men as main teachers Secondary school: is it 50/50? or still more like 70/30? (I dunno, it’s a long time since I was there, and my kids aren’t there yet)
Anyway, it’s easy to have young boys, especially if (their father works away, or is otherwise distant from the family), get up to the age of being aware of Andrew Tate with very few male role models.
It’s my favourite format. I think the original was ‘stop doing math’
Sadbutdru@sopuli.xyzto News@lemmy.world•Oklahoma banned trans students from bathrooms. Now a bullied student is dead1·1 year agoI mean that was possibly their intention, but nevertheless I think it is a reasonable question to ask, and I found it difficult to answer comprehensively.
If we dismiss everything like this as troll, and not worth thinking about, we miss an opportunity to develop point of view and add nuance to our arguments.
Sadbutdru@sopuli.xyzto News@lemmy.world•Oklahoma banned trans students from bathrooms. Now a bullied student is dead4·1 year agoI think we should try to answer this rather than just down voting. I think the difference is that conservative thinking led to the policy that led to the person being targeted, and possibly also to a climate of intolerance that made the attacker/s feel like they had the support of the community to do that. We’re not really talking about who is too blame for this individual instance (obviously that’s the person/s who manslaughtered this child). We’re talking bigger picture.
When an immigrant commits a crime, I suppose you would argue that liberal thinking created the situation where that could happen, but I think it’s a false equivalence. Big picture immigrants don’t disproportionately commit crime, and there are major benefits that come with immigration. While trans people absolutely are disproportionately the victims of violence, and there are no real benefits to transphobic policies.
I guess I haven’t done great at this, please other people build on this reply, it just felt wrong to see a fair enough question just being downvoted with no reply.
I’m half way through my second year and still not sure.
Kind of… Yoda rapping? And someone else is keeping him warm inside their coat.
Thank you for this detailed response 🙏
My pet peeve is this but for signage in general. Workers put out a temporary flood or road narrows sign, but forget to remove it again, the net effect is just people learn to not notice signs as much, and works against safety.
Still regularly see signs about masks obligatory, keep 2 m distance, and one-way systems from covid. They’re just part of the background now, people don’t even see them. And next time they’ll be that much less effective.
