Might as well extend the steps so that they touch each other. It would no longer have a platform there, but it would be easier to climb. You would have a step ledge, but it’s already a crap situation.

It depends on the severity of the situation. I would only leave the planet for this purpose if it was a potential extinction event. Otherwise it would have to be an actual invasion of my area of my country. I am not a good citizen.

I wonder if it’s something to do with what those 8 hours are filled with, maybe a person is more likely to eat worse meals if they skip a meal unintentionally?

For example, they could be eating McDonald’s every night because they didn’t have the time to eat anything else.

I would assume if you plan your diet properly, it wouldn’t be harmful. Only science can tell us though, not our ponderings.
