I’d love to see entertainment democratized. That was kind of the promise of Netflix and YouTube that was sold to us 20 years ago. It was supposed to allow room for many artists to bloom and prosper and find audiences. Unfortunately, that was kind of a false promise and now we still have superstars who suck up the world’s entertainment resources. I want to watch more local bands. I want to watch more independent movies. Taylor swift is just an advertising agency at this point. She’s just a marketing agency with one client.

Maybe just maybe we should not reward people who bought fake internet money to speculate with. Or pay entertainers the salary of 1,000 people lol
My aunt and uncle went on a state sponsored trip and got the impression that they have a stronger middle class than we do. From what I can piece together I’d tend to agree. But ya I guess we’ll know for sure with more hindsight.
Gotta love the two biggest economy’s in the world and you can’t find/trust good data

11·4 days agoAn independent democracy who choices its fate at the voting polls every year in November…… surely they won’t suffer for their actions! Yes it’s unfair to judge a country by their civic action over the last 100 years.
Umm do you want to break those numbers down for the bottom 75% or earners? Or the median? I believe that is just the billionaire holding up the statistic that the Fed is presenting. Also, those numbers were in billions representing the whole country not an individual in thousands……

2·7 days agoWait a second. I’m in Maine, and I have Susan Collins® as a senator and Janet mills(D) as a governor, soon to be running for that senate seat. Guess which one has an open for line for constituents to call? The answer is unfortunate.

At least when it was Hillary there was valid criticism of warmongering and Wall Street pandering / bribes. Getting people to vote based on her laugh really shows the type of citizens we’re dealing with. They probably love this article!

4·7 days agoIt’s just insane to think these guys built their whole livelihood around government land and a healthy ecosystem; and then vote against both those issues every time.
How much money do you think the median American takes home these days with cost of living and suppressed wages? -2000 in credit card debt once the budget gets tallied?
The Chinaman is not the issue dude.
And please Asian American is the preferred nomenclature
Think about this, we made major advancements politically and culturally during 2006-2016, especially in regards to LGBTQ rights and then the voters turn Trans people into a single issue ticket and vote for trump 12 years in a row. They turned you into a woke boogie man and campaign against you specifically and now we live in a fucking Nazi hell hole.
Na that’s a pretty common reaction to the SWJ language policing. Most oppressed minorities want their equal rights; not a mob or privileged kids virtue signaling and alienating them further 🌈
I would say “the Chinese invented many things in the last two millennia.” And “China is constantly posturing against Taiwan” to separate the people from their government.
“The Chinese” doesn’t have to be racist it can just include all the people of the region across all times. It can be a bit ignorant but doesn’t flag maliciousness

18·8 days agoI don’t remember much of Sanders in 2020. It was 2016 when he was a front runner. The DNC said “it’s her turn” and went with Hillary. The sanders voters went with Joe Rogan and trump. I really don’t remember Bernie being a strong candidate in 2020 like he was in 2016.

25·10 days agoWell that opens up like 3 layers of this onion you dropped on my plate. See I didn’t even have to straw man you! The stereotypes are working on overdrive for me. Holy shit. What can I even say that hasn’t been said at length. If you are American then why would you not use the American use of the word Karma? like popularized on the internet, commonly used for the last 20 or so years Karma. The one an average American would identify with and not the hindu translation. You sure hold a lot of US pride for someone who doesn’t understand US context on popular language? ‘instant karma’ there is no way you exist in America and don’t understand the context I was using.

31·10 days agoThank you! I’m working on ditching adobe and apple currently. one day I’ll be a real linux boi. I have hard drive space just no time to do the transfers and file hunting. If I wasn’t over worked, underpaid and exhausted I would have used a better example. An ASML lithography machine costs 400 Million dollars. So idk how anyone is going to produce chips and be worth less than a billion dollars. OP example needs better numbers. Saying companies can’t be worth more than a billion dollars screams: “I don’t know how anything I enjoy is made!!!” vibes.

54·10 days agoAre you American bro? Like are you here right now while we are scrapping science for theology? You’re going to brag about some shit your great grandparents did while it gets flushed down the toilet. Get a grip lmao our nation is in an irreversible state of decline that we get to preside over. Buckle up ur gonna need to be tougher than this comment suggests.

Well considering we had a huge head start, I really don’t value the comparison that much anyway.
Let’s look at it a different way, is their middle class growing while ours is contracting? Let’s consider the trend and not the specific point in time.
