Android@lemdro.id•Google Chrome is the worst browser for non-techiesEnglish
252·10 days agoGuess you didn’t read the article fully.
Here is the actual TLDR as to why chrome is bad for non techy people,
- Chrome does not have the ability to block any malicious ads pretending to be genuine.
- Chrome does not respect the system wide dark mode when it comes to websites.
- Chrome automatically logs you in. Not good for privacy.
- Article recommends Firefox (with ublock and dark-reader) or Vivaldi.

Linux@lemmy.ml•What are some bare minimum concepts beginner Linux users should understand?
7·19 days ago- Should have basic understanding of what they intent to do on Linux.
- They should know about the concept of input devices.
- Have an understanding of the internet if they are planing to use it. Like what websites are or how to search for things.
- And I think a basics of generic buttons or symbols (like the magnifying glass for search button) would be nice.

For Fuck Sake its Free Software Foundation.
I 100% recommend bubblejail. A sandboxing utility based on bubnlewrap. The same that Flatpaks use I believe. It has a CLI and a GUI. And its super portable.

81·23 days agoThe very worst offender is Nissan. The Japanese car manufacturer admits in their privacy policy to collecting a wide range of information, including sexual activity, health diagnosis data, and genetic data — but doesn’t specify how. They say they can share and sell consumers’ “preferences, characteristics, psychological trends, predispositions, behavior, attitudes, intelligence, abilities, and aptitudes” to data brokers, law enforcement, and other third parties.
