Lemmy Shitpost@lemmy.world•Drink the climate change awayEnglish
221·1 year agoOne of those canisters is equivalent to burning 178mL of gasoline. Or enough to power an average car for 2km. Most people burn through the equivalent of 30+ of these a day going to work and back.

Technology@lemmy.world•Discussion: People who use Kagi search don't understand how does Kagi work.English
162·1 year agoThey updated their description of how their search engine works. The new description is still factual, while being slightly easier to understand. The new description also has some fancy marketing flair. They still make it pretty clear that they use other search engines via anonymous calls.
I wouldn’t call that shady at all… Unless maybe I’m completely missing the point here.

154·1 year agoI think this is a fairly benign move with a valid explanation that has been taken out of context in order to be more inflamitory

69·1 year agoI have a TP-Link router. Maybe I’m an idiot, but I searched around for a bit and I literally could not find which models of router were effected. All articles about Botnet-7777 are frustratingly vague with this.

Technology@lemmy.world•Federal agency investigating how Meta uses consumer financial data for advertising.English
2·1 year agoThe article is light on details about the exact allegation. I’d be very interested to hear exactly Facebook planned to store and use the data, what kind of data it was anyways, and how it could have improved their bottom line. If we can find how they are using this to make more money then maybe it’s possible to cut off the opportunity at the source.

1·1 year agoHmm gotcha. Yeah this stuff goes over my head haha but it sounds similar to a Bitcoin mixer/tumbler. I wonder if the anonymity scales with the number of users using the network. I also wonder if you happened to send a transaction at a “bad” time (no-one else is using the network) then it’s easier to trace.
