We have a 2 phase, 120v or 240v. Standard wall outlets only have 1 phase at 120v and a 15amp limit.

Technology@lemmy.world•Elon's Death Machine (aka Tesla) Mows Down Deer at Full Speed , Keeps Going on "Autopilot"English
23·1 year agoHave you hit a deer before or almost hit them in the dark? Yes absolutely 60mph will shorten your stopping distance and reaction time but not nearly enough. Even at 35mph people hit deer all the time because they typically jump out in front. But much faster than 35mph and even standing still in the middle of the road they’re tough to see and stop for. 60mph, not a chance.

32·1 year agoGreat on paper but literally not okay to slow down to 35 mph on the freeway … Where most wild animals are hit at night.

politics @lemmy.world•Nikki Haley, asked if she thinks Trump is a "good candidate," replies "I think he is the Republican nominee"
3·1 year agoThe reason there is a “party system” at all is because of our voting system. It forces a two party system and if you don’t listen to the parties you’ll throw your vote away. If we switch to Ranked Choice Voting this wouldn’t be a problem anymore and we’d be able to actually elect the most popular candidate.

politics @lemmy.world•AOC wants to impeach SCOTUS justices following Trump immunity ruling
41·2 years agoVoting gives us no control with the current party system. We need ranked choice voting, end campaigns and advertising. Only 1 website will have the candidates and their platforms, tax funded only, anyone who wants to run can run and ranked choice voting will make the actual most popular acceptable candidate win.

News@lemmy.world•A Huge Number of Homeowners Have Mortgage Rates Too Good to Give Up
31·2 years agoIn my area prices are already down 30%. Every chart clearly shows the falling value.
I’ve too have tried giving stuff away for free and I always the worst experience, unappreciative people who want to manipulate any way they can, or no show etc.
But when I post it for a low price it completely removes that group and suddenly I get nice people who have wanting this thing for so long but struggled to afford it and they will go out of their way to meet up. Usually I just giving it to them free after they’ve been so easy to work with and their mind gets blown. They show initiative, they work hard for what they want and get rewarded for it. This is the way.

22·2 years agoLogging in to cancel my switch online right now. I was using YUZU to play games I bought from them, in some cases even more than once. F Nintendo. I won’t be buying a Switch 2.

211·2 years agoDon’t forget good hardware too. The switch is an absolutely terrible hand held device. My hands cramp up nearly instantly trying to play on it.
I have purchased BOTW and TOTK for the switch, but I play them on my steam deck with YUZU Waaaay better experience.
This is the way!
Intelligent design maybe, but at the very least the possibility of higher existence or beings.

1·2 years agoIt’s not “no one”, Because I left reddit and I left chrome. Lemmy and Firefox!
But yeah not many people will actually do it.
My thoughts too. Put that back on a globe and it’s pretty damn close to a circle! Considering it’s hand drawn…

Lemmy Shitpost@lemmy.world•Very few people realise how environmentally devastating this game is.
6·2 years agoIMO, rectangle sports are the most boring sports in existence. It’s literally a rectangle and always a rectangle every time… And everyone stands around watching the exact same shit happening inside the perfectly constructed rectangle. It’s the same thing, over and over. Not only that but millions of people say they love sports, but they don’t even play, just stare at a glowy rectangle and watch people in a rectangle run around. You can’t define a more boring sport than that. At the very bare minimum, to spice things up, how about introducing some goddamn obstacles randomly placed in the rectangle. Add some actual dynamic scenarios that keep the players on their toes and trying to come up with new strategies.
Motocross and enduro racing are sports and so is golf. Golf courses are all different, they unique, dynamic change depending on temperature, weather, grass length, wind, dew point, hole location.
But I do agree in general, golf courses are very big waste. Especially when placed in the middle of deserts or places that require significant resources to maintain.

129·2 years agoI’d like to believe that enough of us actually stopped using chrome and switched to Firefox the day they made that announcement that swayed them… But in reality I’m sure it was just the bad press and they’re going to try to find a different more sneaky way to do the same shit.

Technology@lemmy.world•FCC to propose a minimum 100mbps to qualify as broadband, with a future goal of 1gbpsEnglish
6·2 years agoI live in rural Washington too, in the mountains. There was a local ISP that was terrible and amazingly a very small ISP bought them out from Arizona. The first thing they did was start to run fiber to anyone who wanted it. I went from shit DSL to 1gig up and 1 gig down fiber. To top it all off, they’ve lowered my monthly price once and doubled my bandwidth once… Without even asking, I even emailed them to check if my bill was lower and speed was faster and they were like yep! Mind blown.

Where was that? Source, so I can share it.
