Georgism is great but we also have problem with corporations so georgism isn’t enough. We need socialism or at least distributism

I like flatpak, but I can’t download Flathub flatpak applications and (specially) Flathub flatpak runtimes from my phone. I hope Flathub learns from F-Droid
Fatur_New@lemmy.mlto Linux@lemmy.ml•Looking for the Best KDE Distro – Fast, Stable, and Feature-RichEnglish5·2 months agoFedora is solid, but I keep finding myself tempted to try something new. Maybe I get bored easily—or maybe I just haven’t found the one yet.
Here’s what I’m really looking for:
🔹 Large and fast app repository – I want access to a wide range of apps, updated quickly, without weird dependency issues.
🔹 Great UI/UX – KDE is my current favorite. I love how modern and smooth it feels, and I want something that builds on that experience.
🔹 Stability without being outdated – I don’t mind rolling release if it’s reliable. Crashes and breakages are a dealbreaker.
🔹 Good extras – Whether it’s unique tools, deep customization options, or just thoughtful polish, I love a distro with a “complete” feel.
🔹 Active community/support – Docs, forums, or anything that helps when things go wrong.
Fedora already provides what you want. So you just get bored, not haven’t found the one yet.
What would you recommend and why? Any underrated KDE-based distro I should check out?
You better check out KaOS, Nitrux, ALT Linux, and OpenMandriva
Also, if you can, please share some of the best (and free) resources to really learn and master Linux. I’m still learning and only know some basics, but I want to go deeper and really understand how things work under the hood.
LFS book is good resource if you want to know about Linux OS components. Arch Wiki (I’m sure you already know about this), Void Linux Handbook, and Gentoo Wiki are also good resources for learning about Linux OS
If you aren’t sure, install with secure boot off. If you like adventure, install with secure boot on and see if secure boot causes problem or not. If yes, then install with secure boot off

Fatur_New@lemmy.mlto Linux@lemmy.ml•I have used Windows all my life, and I have some questions.English1·4 months ago…you mean western countries where nvidia gpu’s are the most common?
If we’re including beginners in developing countries this is even less common of an issue, when I was in india, not a single person I helped with tech had a graphics card, why would they have a 470xx series driver gpu and not an integrated system? It’s not even the cheapest choice. I recently built a PC in india, coincidentally, and we ended up going with an integrated system for a gaming PC.

i mean, look at these stats, it’s such a minority it’s hardly worth mention. You’ll probably say “these are just the steam stats, most of them aren’t on steam anyway!” But if they’re not using steam/proton… they almost definitely aren’t using xwayland anyway so the issues don’t apply to them in the first place.
compare that to the list on the hardware survey and you’ll see how unbelievably rare this problem actually is. They don’t even make the list, it’s less than a 1% issue.

In western countries
Fatur_New@lemmy.mlto Linux@lemmy.ml•I have used Windows all my life, and I have some questions.English1·4 months agoBeing expected to use slightly different software when you’re using a 10+ year old hardware setup is not weird
Yes, it isn’t weird. The problem is you want people to leave Xorg meanwhile NVK hasn’t finished yet
Fatur_New@lemmy.mlto Linux@lemmy.ml•I have used Windows all my life, and I have some questions.English2·4 months agothis one niche case
Linux is popular because it is old hardware friendly
Fatur_New@lemmy.mlto Linux@lemmy.ml•I have used Windows all my life, and I have some questions.English1·4 months agoThe nvidia thing is also a problem for x.org
No, all NVIDIA is works well on Xorg

Oh, it is work. Good then
I think we’re talking 10 or more years old with the nvidia thing…
Yup
Fatur_New@lemmy.mlto Linux@lemmy.ml•I have used Windows all my life, and I have some questions.English1·4 months agoOld NVIDIA series (not wayland problem but very new users will blame wayland because old NVIDIA series are work on Xorg), VNC
Fatur_New@lemmy.mlto Linux@lemmy.ml•I have used Windows all my life, and I have some questions.English1·4 months agoIt’s well out of the testing phase
Testing phase, not stable phase (yet).
Fatur_New@lemmy.mlto Linux@lemmy.ml•I have used Windows all my life, and I have some questions.English1·4 months agoWayland is plenty tested these days
If it’s still being tested, then it isn’t for very new users
Fatur_New@lemmy.mlto Linux@lemmy.ml•I have used Windows all my life, and I have some questions.English1·4 months agox11 has the following problems every time:
And Wayland isn’t very well tested yet. We should only give a very well tested display server to very new users. They must not get a bad impression
I think that is because georgism is a centrist ideology. Centrist ideology isn’t attractive, and therefore georgism isn’t popular.
But your opinion isn’t wrong either. Georgism will only fix landlord problem but it will not fix corporation problem
