As a service meant to inform people of things they could benefit from, I see it. Like, we have public service announcements about food banks, giveaway days, and fun events. I suppose that is true. I think most people view “the OS” as synonymous with the kernel and what associated applications enable you to do (obligatory GNU/Linux copypasta). That’s usually how I think of it, though I know it’s not accurate.

It’s a bit like including the sinks and shower when you talk about “the plumbing” in your house. Depends on your experience and what level of abstraction you’re thinking in. I see by your comments that you’re using a much more rigorous definition of “OS.” :)

I like to game how I can use as few key presses as possible to get my desired colours to show up. Sometimes figuring that out is even more fun than the end result.

I love your comparison of where issues come from on Linux vs Windows. That’s so apt (heh). Even after 10 years of using Linux, I never really thought of it that way.
