Gaming@lemmy.ml•Science is just fucking around and writing down the results
13·2 months agoGo on WorldStar, LiveLeak, and YouTube and you’ll see all kinds of videos and ask yourself “Why are they filming this?” Same shit.
Or the White House.

6·3 months agoI like how they are building something on top of a highway that has grass growing on it. Is it some kind of ramp maybe? And that they are doing it with their hands and kitchen gloves.

Linux@lemmy.ml•7 years later, Valve's Proton has been an incredible game-changer for Linux
25·4 months agoTrue, but that is what did the trick. No tinkering, just a flawless experience (in most cases). This changed everything. No longer I start a game in the evening, wondering if it will start or not (I worked all day, I don’t want to google what I have to change to get the game to run again…). I double click and expect it to work (and it normally does).
There are things to learn from this…
I think everyone in our company has two monitors, from low level to the CEO (excepts those exclusively working in the field, they only have robust tablets). But it still checks out, we are just a subsidiary, so everyone is a slave I guess.
If not Ubuntu, I’d at least stay in the Debian realm.
wonder why they don’t just install Debian with XFCE directly
I think the main reason are the “MX Tools” which get praised a lot. And maybe also the “Advanced Hardware Support” they offer.

Technology@lemmy.world•The Debian project is proud to release Debian 13 "Trixie", a major update that brings new features, updated components, and numerous other improvementsEnglish
1·4 months agoYou could have a look at MX Linux.
As a gamer and a Linux user for more than 20 years this thread is so awesome.
I actually mostly stopped playing sometime in the late 2000s (dual booting was annoying) and restarted around 2017. We have come so far…
lol
I use Kubuntu. It is defintly not the best Distro. I am just used to it and too lazy to get used to another distro. My days as a distro jumper lie 15 years back…
Tbh though, I might switch to Debian stable whenever Trixie comes out.
Yeah great. When it clogs up the sewage, tell that to the workes who have to clean your shit up.
But if it is only that, a few paper towels should be enough to catch the grease.
I think that is specific for your town/city. We don’t have that in my city, nor in other cities I lived in before.
But tbh, if you are not deepfrying a lot of stuff, letting it cool down, whiping the oil out with a paper towel is normally enough. If this isn’t enough, people normally use old glass jar and throw it into the Restmüll (this is also how our local waste company tells us to do it). Naturally, there are different solutions available for industrial cases.
Head of department is middle management. Middle management is certainly the most vulnerable position in situations like this.
The top manager got a nice compensation and very high pension (according to German media ~€1.3 million per year), while the owners (Piech/Porsche family) still earn billions every year.
UK, the red party
You are talking about Keir Starmers party?
Kubuntu is just really well polished. It works really well and stable nowadays. Only downside is snap.
Also have a look at Linux MX. Also very well polished and some really good tools.

Like in pretty much all branches, the AI will eventually just be another tool. There still needs to be someone there to actually understand what the tool produces or it will result in catastrophees. You don’t want to live in a building structurally designed by an AI without oversight nor fly in a plane programmed y an AI without oversight. Even for non-critical branches, there will be someone who directs the AI when it is e.g. composing the next shitty pop-song.
