I’m not saying that governments are the most trustworthy institutions in the world, but as someone who tried to be an early adopter of blockchain from both a tech and a financial perspective, I immediately assume that anything that has the word “crypto” in it is deeply flawed and inherently untrustworthy. I’ve unfortunately learned this from experience.
I trust governments with fiat currency a hell of a lot more than I trust anything that has to do with crypto.

To be honest I’ve found a really incredible community of like-minded people on BW and regularly find top quality book suggestions just from seeing what these people are reading. One key is to find your favorite books, and then follow lots of the same people who felt similar to you. Some will be misses and have bad recommendations going forward, but at least a handful will be very like-minded readers.

I dont know much about the primary developers of Lemmy, but from what I can tell this is a part time labor of love project for them. Its unreasonable to ask people to push beyond their boundaries or capacity so that their pet project can become a 1:1 replacement for an incredibly mature platform like Reddit overnight
