9·2 months agoi got confused thinking this was some interaction between bot accounts bc my first thought was “the top account just straight up hallucinated a 2015 Fantastic Four movie with fkn miles teller as reed richards and michael b. jordan as johnny storm” but til.

Showerthoughts@lemmy.world•I saw a meme about a puppy pattern on someone's toilet paper. They were apologizing for what they were putting the puppy through, but dogs are always sniffing butts anyways. It makes perfect sense.
7·4 months agoI think the act reflects more of taking an actual dog’s face and rubbing it through your crack, as opposed to it just reflecting a nose-sniff greeting; the apology makes more sense to me lol

idk if this needs to be said but the term ‘Gaslighting’ is the denominalisation of the 1944 film ‘Gaslight’, and doesn’t relate to the 19th century profession. one plot point in the film, the protagonist notices the gaslights in her house flickering, which her husband assures her is all in her mind.

politics @lemmy.world•We Went to War, Came Home, and Achieved the American Dream. Billionaires Are Stealing It
17·11 months agothe intro seems a naive view of the American dream. I’d argue veterans of WWII came home and achieved the American dream but the billionaires were well underway stealing the American dream during any war the author—being 44 years old—was deployed to. In fact, they were probably deployed for the billionaires who wanted more oil money.

Lemmy Shitpost@lemmy.world•What is this thing, a spring loaded tampon or something?
4·11 months agoThis is the correct answer—a spring loaded toilet roll holder. You slide the spring in to replace the TP. on the holder

News@lemmy.world•Netanyahu: Let me be clear — Israel has no intention of displacing Gaza’s population
01·2 years agohe’s only saying this to make it more difficult for the ICJ to rule on the intent of Israel to commit genocide against the Palestinian population. the genocidal atrocities are there for everyone to see but proving Israel holds intent to commit genocide will be the crux of the case
