sic_semper_tyrannis@feddit.chOPto Selfhosted@lemmy.world•Small Commercial Gym SoftwareEnglish1·1 year agoThat’s good to know. I’ll look into the Docker image. Thank you
sic_semper_tyrannis@feddit.chOPto Selfhosted@lemmy.world•Small Commercial Gym SoftwareEnglish2·1 year agoI’m not opposed to tried and true simple solutions. I think my wife would find it much easier with an automated system however. I really need a way for people to pay for their memberships and keep track of that and I have no background with this stuff. I think having a system that’s already designed for this would make opening the gym less daunting. I appreciate the thought

sic_semper_tyrannis@feddit.chOPto Selfhosted@lemmy.world•Small Commercial Gym SoftwareEnglish3·1 year agoI am confused as to what this is exactly. Is it some type of operating system that makes installing certain software easy like Docker or something?

sic_semper_tyrannis@feddit.chOPto Selfhosted@lemmy.world•Small Commercial Gym SoftwareEnglish1·1 year agoWow, Akaunting looks really great. It seems simple and upgradable if my needs change over time. I have the ability to self host and even make a one time payment instead of subscribing to their services if I want. Thank you!
sic_semper_tyrannis@feddit.chOPto Selfhosted@lemmy.world•Small Commercial Gym SoftwareEnglish0·1 year agoI did see the subscriptions module. Once you add enough modules it becomes a paid service. I have yet to find info on if Odoo is subscription based or a one time payment. I don’t mind paying for a software but do not want a subscription service.

sic_semper_tyrannis@feddit.chOPto Selfhosted@lemmy.world•Small Commercial Gym SoftwareEnglish3·1 year agoThere’s a lot to look into there. It covers quite a bit so it could work. I’ll research this for sure. Thank you a lot!
sic_semper_tyrannis@feddit.chOPto Selfhosted@lemmy.world•Small Commercial Gym SoftwareEnglish82·1 year agoI understand the payment will have to connect to the internet and be outsourced but I want all my customer data to stay on my server
sic_semper_tyrannis@feddit.chOPto Selfhosted@lemmy.world•Small Commercial Gym SoftwareEnglish10·1 year agoI don’t yet know the scope of everything I might need, but right now I believe that a customer management system is the focus. A way to input their details and payment information to have an automatic recurring membership.
I don’t think I really need a way for them to view their account as it won’t have any fancy features. I just need to know that they are a member and have a membership renewal. They can sign up and cancel in person or over the phone (I’m not making it disgustingly hard for people to cancel like the large gyms).
On top of that I would imagine it would be nice for the software to keep track of my total number of patrons and thus a total income amount

Streaming pirated content used to bother me but now I see it as these streaming companies steal my data, give me ads after I pay for the service, and if I “purchase” something it’s not actually mine, not DRM free, and they have the tendency to remove that so called purchased content due to licensing issues.
sic_semper_tyrannis@feddit.chto Technology@lemmy.world•Any suggestions for overcoming addiction to capitalist big tech social media and streaming etc?English1·1 year agoGood job starting, that’s the hardest part. It takes time to ween yourself away. Make it inconvenient to check social media. Delete the apps and make yourself login to the webapp every time. Kodi is a good streaming platform if you’re okay with piracy.
sic_semper_tyrannis@feddit.chto Technology@lemmy.world•Is Framework actually "good" for the industry?English2·1 year agoI plan to get one soon. The largest value I see is in a company that cares about your right to repair and open sourcing their components so anyone can make parts easily. They also have a hardware killswitch for the camera. Also I hope to see more options for Coreboot which seems likely. If people actually care about e-waste too this seems (I haven’t looked into their manufacturing deeply) like a way to not add as much trash into the environment and not waste as much material in this age of consumerism and wastefulness. Of course the upgradeability is a welcome change to the laptop market and they have official support for some Linux distros
Bring back the standard DIN design. Then we can all change out our head unit with something that has Garmin but doesn’t affect the physical buttons on the dash below it.
