Reddit had a good run for over a decade, but as always with the internet, now a better thing will take its place.
The news industry is a billion dollar business that thrives on your attention. Any headline like this is meant to get you engaged in the bullshit cycle.
This week on billionaire’s gossip: who’s gonna pull their ads out of which social media network… and will they block each other on their app stores or IRL?! Stay tuned to find out if your Tesla is affected!!
and what are we doing about it?
Takes note: Don’t do horse-tranquilizers alone in a bath, check. As a matter of fact don’t do any analgesic/anesthetic with additional drugs in a bath, also check.
At this point they might as well just call It COD:Forever Warfare, make it a subscribtion service and sign people up for life, because people will just buy every COD.
It’s nice Bethesda wants to pull a Cyberpunk, but Starfield at it’s core just isn’t as good. I’m all for some redeeming updates though, because at least there would be something to come back to
A machine learning algorithm is only as good as the data you feed it. flawed or incomplete data just puts out false/biased positives and some systems will always try to output any data that you might accept. So if the approach really was “it’s like a streetlight, when it’s green we bomb”, then that’s really dark skynet stuff. But Imho blaming a machine, just sounds like a bad PR excuse for getting out of a potential crimes against humanity charge in den haag.
Musk and Zuck can’t stand losing relevance. So the best thing you can do is ignore them.
Because Starfield’s problems don’t have an easy fix. Cyberpunk had initial lack of optimization. Starfield lacks in writing and immersion, also some very basic areas like UI and loading-points. It’s a different mess. I enjoyed both games and hope Microsoft keeps their word and invests in the continued improvement of Starfield. I’d love to come back when it’s gotten better.
It’s unlikely Bethesda is gonna replicate what CDPR has done with Cyberpunk and adress all the issues players have had with the game. If they claim support for years to come that would be the template. And just because 12 million people checked out the game, doesn’t mean it has an active playerbase.
Well that was the dumbest explanation ever, that’s basically just political pretext to give the government contract to some french company. Potentially there has been some lobbying going on.
Signal doesn’t store it’s encryption/decryption keys in the cloud, so you would need the devices and then you would still have to decrypt content if the user doesn’t give you access manually.
To crack a 128-bit AES key, it would take 1 billion billion years with a current supercomputer. To crack a 256-bit AES key, it would take 2^255 / 2,117.8 trillion years on average.
So until some amazing quantum computer comes along, this is pretty safe. Fuck Olvid.
They hugely miscalculated, trust was already at its lowest. In Europe this already breaks several GDPR laws. Not to mention child protection laws.
And it’s not just about pron, that’s just a catchier headline. It could be religious, political or in some countries banned movies that gets people in trouble.
Just completely offline with home DNS as IP right? This still sucks and i think there needs to be more feedback to the dev forum.
It’s a huge privacy messup and it will make a lot of plexpass users think harder about abandoning plex for jellyfin, emby or kode.
It also raises the question why any recorded watch-activity is being sent to the cloud at all! The server can save that info locally.
Sure they want a social-media-infested netflix-clone, but that’s not what people use plex for.
It’s gonna take considerable effort to completely block it.
and so the cat and mouse game continues…
Google’s decisions in the time Pichai has been CEO, have been anti-consumer all the way. Not the fun conpany it used to be, now users are beind forced out of adblockers and a products promise is abandoned way too often.
total shitshow for everyone involved.
They should fire the CEO who steered them here.
