Exactly. I used to play league pretty regularly, and even bought some shit every once in a while. There’s no way I’m installing windows again just to play league.
Conversely, one of my reasons for changing to Linux was to escape the pull. It’s been a wild success, both by using Linux and by quitting League after over a decade.

League used to be so much fun before all the corporate bullshit.
I’ve never played League (not my thing) but I feel like Riot has squandered a few opportunities along the way.
Arcane was more of a back story, but I think they should have released some kind of Jinx-centric game, or some kind of Jinx package to celebrate the anime. As I understand it, there are a few dozen Legends and Jinx is just one of them, and her play style may not match up with every fan of Arcane, so maybe some kind of spinoff game instead?
Also, My Hero Academia threw a shout out to League a couple years ago when two of the villains talked about playing League together (Spinner, the ninja turtle looking dude; and Shigaraki, the main villain). (The manga only said they play games; I don’t think it name dropped League, but the fans kind of assumed it and the anime rolled with that.) So, a crossover event would have brought in some new players.
Though, I’m sure their numbers are good enough, they don’t need to appeal to anime fans, but anime has reached out to them a couple times and it just seems like money left on the table. I know my wife would have gotten into League if she could play as Shigaraki.

Looks like they are all from different developers though, so they must be licencing out their IP. I had only heard of 2 of them. Huh there’s even an Ekko game, I had no idea.
Riot really should promote these League games better.They had this period where they were giving rights to the IP to independent studios to make spin off games as you mention, Hextech Mayhem was a rhythm side scroller with one of the two characters also being in Arcane, Convergence was a metroidvania about Ekko (secondary character in Arcane), and then there was Mageseeker (developped by the people behind Moonlighter!), Song of Nunu, Ruined King, also Bandle Tale which is basically Animal Crossing / Stardew Valley
Anyway after a while they just shelved this, instead of expanding their franchise, guess it wasn’t profitable enough, because everything is about money for Riot
They’re working on their own Street Fighter and Jinx is in it, but it’s definitely not going to appeal to the people who loved Arcane but were outsiders to the franchise
They did release a bunch of Arcane skins, which were all free at the time. Then they also added 2 Arcane only champs into the game at a later date.

Part of me wonders from time to time how the game is doing. But I played enough of it at the time that I’m pretty done with it. Was a Swain main. I got Lulu when she came out and then I think I left a little after that.
